Four Walls Eight Windows Submissions

In the fall of 1987, Four Walls Eight Windows came out with its first list. It included the mix of progressive politics, literature, and quality nonfiction that distinguishes the company seventeen years later. And now, after having published with energy and ability that belie its size and resources, Four Walls has taken the logical next step in its evolution, and is becoming part of a larger publishing organization: the Avalon Publishing Group. As of June 1, the Four Walls backlist and titles in development will be published by Thunder’s Mouth Press — of which I will be publisher (I will also become co-publisher of Nation Books). The transition will be a smooth one, as our distributor remains the same, and Avalon has a strong history of publishing at the highest level. I look forward to continuing these traditions and starting new ones. First-rate authors, whose work has made Four Walls what it is, will again be at the heart of the new publishing program. My deep appreciation goes to my colleagues at Four Walls Eight Windows for their outstanding work: Kathryn Belden (senior editor), Jofie Ferrari-Adler (editor), and Nally Preseault (assistant editor).
